Jen Williams is a Cornish jewellery designer/maker who lives in far West Cornwall. Situated on the edge of the moors that lie between West Penwith’s rugged North coast and the more tranquil Mounts Bay to the South, It’s a place of ever changing beauty that provides a constant source of inspiration.

Jen enjoys working with a variety of creative mediums to help develop her artistic processes and practise. This resonates in her jewellery, which is where she found her artistic niche.

She creates entirely handcrafted silver pieces using traditional Silversmith techniques and tools to form organic shapes and textures that mirror the wild landscape.

Each piece is consciously created from Eco Silver; recycled silver which has been melted down using a process practiced by metalsmiths throughout the ages to produce a fully traceable and audited silver of equal quality for reuse, while reducing the demand for freshly mined precious metals and the negative impact this has on our natural world.

Combining the silver with materials that have been ethically sourced wherever possible and working mainly with recycled glass beads, semi-precious stones and occasionally beach pebbles; each piece has a sculptural quality and an understated elegance.

Jen’s work focuses on Cornwall’s coast and moorlands, influenced by her love of Granite in all it’s forms. From the giant standing stones and Quoits inland, to the rugged cliffs that form our coastline and the beaches that sit beneath them with their alluring rockpools, pebbles and sand patterns visible at low tide.

Her jewellery is very pure and tactile with a natural colour palette and a distinguishable style.

Jen is a member of the Cornwall Crafts Association and her work has been exhibited over the years at galleries in Cornwall, The Isles of Scilly and across the UK.

Each piece of jewellery I make is inspired by the natural beauty of Cornwall and the feelings it evokes. It is my way of interpreting these surroundings in a wearable as well as visual art form.

Reviews

For me, the attraction to Jen’s work is the visual connection with natural materials and the sea…the rocks and the water…I can almost smell the sea. I had an emotional response to Jen’s jewellery. It has a minimalist quality and is far superior to other jewellery I have seen. Evocative, classy and minimalist! – Ruthie

We received a couple of pieces from Jen’s handmade collection as gifts. The earrings are just gorgeous, my favourites to date! They pair beautifully with formal outfits, yet also add an elegant touch to casual clothing. The design and detail is spot on. Can’t wait to order more. – Phili

Your jewellery is inspired by the same things I love. It connects me to the places I love, even when I am far away. I am transported to Cornwall every time I put on my Rockpool earrings! You have a sense of belonging to your landscape and have the skills and creativity to make something tangible from it in response. – Sue

Jen’s handcrafted jewellery has soul. You feel it when you wear it, sculptural jewellery with identity. Her collection is cohesive and representational of Cornwall.
Feels unique, is unique and for me the first time I saw her work, had a Bronze Age feel but….In soulful silver. Her attention to strong simple design is a magnet to me, as being an artist myself I love silver jewellery that adds to my persona without taking away. Her work fulfils this beautifully.
Earthy, simple, stunning, created to be timeless and to last. It connects me to my beloved Cornish Coast and homeland and wears a story, my story… Identity and Provenance.

I came across Jen’s work whilst searching online for locally made jewellery. I ordered four pairs of earrings for my granddaughters, each pair crafted for the individual Granddaughter. Nothing was too much trouble for Jen.
They are exquisite and so appreciated by the girls! Being gifts, I was especially grateful for the beautiful packaging which Jen provides.
